All five, explained.

AITA has five verdicts. Each one means a specific thing. Using the wrong one is a small foul. Here is the full glossary, with examples.

NTA

Not the asshole

You were in the right. The other person was out of line. Common in clear-cut cases: someone broke a boundary, you held it, they reacted poorly.

You told your roommate's girlfriend she cannot stay seven nights a week. The girlfriend got mad. NTA.

YTA

You're the asshole

You were wrong. The framing in your own post does not save you. Usually triggered by a buried detail you tried to skip over.

You skipped your best friend's father's funeral because you "had a thing." Then sent a long text explaining why. YTA.

ESH

Everyone sucks here

Both parties were in the wrong. Different shapes, same outcome. Used when the receipts cancel out.

Your sister wore white to your wedding. You retaliated by leaving her off the family group photo. ESH.

NAH

No assholes here

A real conflict with no villain. Two reasonable people, incompatible needs. Rare. The most mature verdict.

You wanted a child-free wedding. Your sister wanted to bring her one-year-old. Neither of you was wrong. NAH.

INFO

More info needed

Cannot make the call from what you wrote. Usually because you left out the moment that started it. Often a polite YTA wrapped in patience.

You posted "AITA for not talking to my mom in three years?" without saying why. INFO.

Less common tags you will see

NTA but... The verdict is NTA, but the commenter wants to flag something. Read the rest of the comment, not just the tag.
YTA, gently. The same as YTA, but the commenter is being kind about it. Usually used when the case touches mental health, grief, or vulnerability.
Missing-missing reasons. Not a verdict. A community observation that the poster is leaving out the reason their family went no-contact, and the missing piece is the answer.
